What happens after completing the training?

Once your training and competency assessment are complete, you'll receive your certification, regulated sealing pliers, and permit to operate under PowerShield.

Will I need to be audited?

Yes. PowerShield includes both technician and company audits to ensure you remain compliant with all regulations. This is part of the ongoing certification process.

What training is provided?

Training includes safe removal and replacement of fuses, SMETS2 meter awareness, DNO reporting processes, and use of sealing pliers. It’s delivered in person by industry experts at a purpose-built training centre.

Do I still need to handle my own dataflows?

No. PowerShield handles dataflows for you through SIPguard, removing the need for your business to maintain its own compliance systems.

Is PowerShield the same as SIP accreditation?

No. While PowerShield is not SIP accreditation, it’s a fully managed service that enables operatives to legally and safely carry out isolator installations without the need for time-consuming and costly SIP accreditation.

What does PowerShield certification include?

PowerShield certification includes one-to-one technician training, regulated sealing pliers, annual recertification, technician and company auditing, and full compliance with industry dataflows. These dataflows are handled through SIPguard, our bespoke system that ensures installations meet UK regulatory standards.

Who can use PowerShield?

Electrical businesses and contractors who want to carry out isolator installations legally and compliantly, without investing in their own SIP accreditation. Eligibility is confirmed during your enquiry process.

How long does it take to get certified with PowerShield?

Once your business is approved, certification can be completed quickly following your in-person training and assessment day. This is significantly faster than the 6–8 month SIP accreditation timeline.

What is SIPguard?

SIPguard is PowerShield’s bespoke software system for handling industry dataflows. It ensures your installations remain compliant with UK regulations, without the need to manage this manually.
